About

TempStitch makes a knitting or crochet pattern from daily maximum temperatures. Select a location and a year. TempStitch gets the past weather data. It then makes a colour design and row-by-row instructions.

TempStitch runs in your browser. It does not need an account, a server, or tracking.

Features

  • Colour ranges — calculates ranges from the climate at the selected location.
  • Five palettes — gradient, warm, cool, pastel, and monochrome.
  • Knitting or crochet — select UK or US terms.
  • Colour IDs — C1 through C12 have names and temperature ranges.
  • Size estimate — uses standard gauge values for each craft.
  • Year selection — select a year from 1940 to the present year.
  • Download — save a design image and pattern instructions as text files.
  • Browser application — does not need a server, an account, or tracking.

Roadmap

  • Version 1.1 — Current version. Small improvements. April 2026.
  • Version 1.5 — Gauge input, PDF export, yarn calculator, zoom, and logo.
  • Version 2 — Custom date ranges, border stitches, data aggregation modes, and pattern sharing.
